Peter Wiersum

Head Coach, AASR Skoll

Peter Wiersum is a retired coxswain for the Dutch men’s rowing team. He coxed the Netherlands at the Beijing, London and Rio Olympics, as well as the Great Eight from 2014 to 2017. He is currently head coach of AASR Skoll in Amsterdam, who won their first Henley cup last year in the Prince of Wales challenge cup.

As a coxswain, Peter was responsible for the rigging of the Dutch men’s crews for the best part of 10 years, and he studied the topic quite extensively during his travels to guest cox universities and boatclubs around the world. He has given several talks and workshops on rigging in the Netherlands, and this will be his first conference on the subject in the UK. Among other things, he aims to share ideas on how rigging can influence athlete’s rowing.
